Level 1

The Program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the trainees to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.

The Trainee who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as an Assistant Electrician with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.

Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Economic Infrastructure sector in the field of Building Electrical Installation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the Trainees with the identified competencies specified in the OS.

Graduates are therefore expected to:

  • Work Safely in the Construction Industry,
  • Carry-Out Measurements and Simple Calculations,
  • Operate personal computer,
  • Prepare a working place for electrical building installation works,
  • Prepare Technical Drawings, Perform Bench Work,
  • Use Electrical hand Tools and measuring devices,
  • Perform Conduit work, Install PVC, Conduit, and Wiring Systems,
  • Connect and terminate electrical wiring,
  • Install wiring devices, lighting, and auxiliary outlets, and
  • Apply 5S Procedures

in accordance with the performance criteria and evidence guide described in the OS.

Level 2

The Program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the trainees to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.

The Trainee who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as an Assistant Electrician with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.

Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Economic Infrastructure sector in the field of Building Electrical Installation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the Trainees with the identified competencies specified in the OS.

Graduates are therefore expected to-

  • Demonstrate Care and Safety Practices,
  • Read and Interpret Plans and Specifications, 
  • Install Wiring Systems Using Conduits,
  • Connect and Terminate electrical wiring systems,
  • Install Electrical Circuit Protection,
  • Install Reception Antennae and Signal Distribution Equipment,
  • Terminate signal and data cables,
  • Conduct In-Service Safety Testing of Electrical Cord Connected Equipment and Cord Assemblies,
  • Install Electrical Apparatus, and
  • Prevent and Eliminate MUDA

in accordance with the performance criteria and evidence guide described in the OS.

Level 3

The program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the trainees to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.

The trainee who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as Electrician with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.

Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Economic Infra Structure sector in the field of Building Electrical Installation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the Trainees with the identified competencies specified in the OS.

Graduates are therefore expected to:

  • Perform CAD Operation,
  • Select Wiring Systems and Cables for Low Voltage Electrical Installations,
  • Install and Maintain Cabling for Telecommunication and data cable Services,
  • Carryout industrial motor control installation,
  • Install and connect extra low-voltage wiring systems,
  • Install heating, ventilation and air conditioning system,
  • Troubleshoot and Repair Faults in Low Voltage Electrical Apparatus and Circuits,
  • Prepare service connection, and
  • Perform Maintenance of Electrical Equipment

in accordance with the performance criteria and evidence guide described in the OS.

Level 4

The Program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the trainees to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.

The Trainee who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as Electrician Supervisor with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.

Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Economic Infrastructure sector in the field of Building Electrical Installation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the Trainees with the identified competencies specified in the OS.

Graduates are therefore expected to:

  • Install and maintain emergency safety systems,
  • Design Effective and Efficient Lighting for Residential, Industrial and Commercial Buildings,
  • Apply Building Electrical Installation Codes and Standards,
  • Prepare Specifications for Installation Works,
  • Control and Order Bill of Materials,
  • Conduct On-Site Supervision of Building Electrical Installation Projects,
  • Develop and Connect Electrical Control Circuits,
  • Arrange Circuits, Control, and Protection for General Electrical Installations,
  • Fix and Secure Electro Technology Equipment,
  • Solve Problems in Single and Three Phase Low Voltage Electrical apparatus and circuits,
  • Implement and Monitor Energy Sector Environmental and Sustainable Policies and Procedures,
  • Test and Commission of Extremely low voltage (ELV) System,
  • Install, test and commission of Solar power system,
  • Install, test and commission lift and escalator elevators, and
  • Test and Commission of Heating ventilation and air conditioning system

in accordance with the performance criteria and evidence guide described in the OS.

Level 5

The Program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the trainees to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.

The Trainee who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as a Supervisor with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.

Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Economic Infra Structure sector in the field of Building Electrical Installation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the Trainees with the identified competencies specified in the OS.

Graduates are therefore expected to:

  • Provide Advice on Effective and Energy Efficient Lighting Products,
  • Manage People and Equipment Performance,
  • Monitor Construction Environmental Processes,
  • Monitor Costing System of Electrical works,
  • Select and Arrange Equipment for Special Electrical Installations,
  • Develop, Enter, and Verify Word and Analogue Control Programs for Programmable Logic,
  • Find and Rectify Faults in Process Final Control Elements,
  • Prepare Design Brief for Electrical Works,
  • Repair and maintain extremely low voltage (ELV) Systems,
  • Troubleshoot and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system,
  • Repair and maintain lift System,
  • Diagnose and Rectify Faults in A.C. Motor Drive Systems,
  • Solve Problems in Stand-Alone Renewable Energy Systems,
  • Develop Professional Technical and Legal Reports on Building and Construction Projects,
  • Administer Legal Obligations of Construction Contract, and
  • Monitor Bid/Tender Document Development for Construction Projects
