Level 1
This program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the learners to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.
Learners who successfully completed the program will be qualified to work as Water Supply and Sanitation Level I with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.
Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Water and Water-related sector in the field of water supply and sanitation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the learners with the identified competencies specified in the OS.
Graduates are therefore expected to:
- Perform Measurement & Calculation in water work Construction,
- Sketch and Interpret a Simple Map and Drawings,
- Perform Site Work and Trench Excavation,
- Carry out Concrete Work on Water Work Construction,
- Apply Basic Sanitation and Hygiene Practices,
- Apply Chemistry Principles to Water Treatment Processes,
- Develop Knowledge of Basic Hydrology Principles, and
- Perform Sampling & simple Water Quality Tests
in accordance with the performance criteria described in the OS.
Level 2
This program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the learners to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.
Learners who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as a Water Supply and Sanitation Level II with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.
Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the water supply and sanitation-related sector in the field of water supply and sanitation Level II. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the learners with the identified competencies specified in the OS.
Graduates are therefore expected to:
- Construct and Install Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Assets,
- Install and Repair Water Service Pipes
- Perform Basic Water and Wastewater Quality Tests,
- Operate and Maintain Water and Wastewater Treatment Processes,
- Operate & maintain Water Distribution and Bulk Water Transfer System,
- Basic Flow Control & Regulating Devices in Water /Wastewater Treatment,
- Operate and Report lagoon and Wastewater Pre-treatment Processes,
- Read and Interpret Maps,
- Drawings and Specifications for Water Works, and
- Install and Use Basic Software Applications
in accordance with the performance criteria described in the OS.
Level 3
This program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the learners to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.
Learners who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as a Water Supply and Sanitation Level III with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.
Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the water and water-related sector in the field of water supply and sanitation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the learners with the identified competencies specified in the OS.
Graduates are therefore expected to:
- Apply Hydraulic Principles and Calculate Theoretical Flows,
- Design basic water and wastewater system model,
- Install Plastic Pipes and Components,
- Perform Basic Monitoring Operations & Control of the Water Treatment Processes,
- Monitor and Control Water Distribution and perform leak detection,
- Inspect and Maintain Public Facilities,
- Respond Effectively to the Needs of Customers,
- Assess Household Water Use and Water Treatment Techniques,
- Estimate Quantity and Cost of Water Construction Work,
- Monitor Maintenance and Control System of Water and Wastewater Assets,
- Identify Water Quality Problems, and
- Disinfect water Distribution networking
in accordance with the performance criteria described in the OS.
Level 4
This program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the learners to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.
Learners who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work in Water Supply and Sanitation Level IV with competencies elaborated in the respective OS.
Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Water and Water-related sectors in the field of water supply and sanitation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the learners with the identified competencies specified in the OS.
Graduates are therefore expected to:
- Investigate and Plan the Optimization of Potable Water Distribution Systems,
- Perform Advanced Water Quality Analysis,
- Implement the Operational Plan for the water supply system,
- Collect Data Using Basic Global Positioning System (GPS) Equipment,
- Assess and Optimize Chemical Addition Processes,
- Prepare Estimates, Quotes, and Tenders,
- Assess and Optimize the Treatment Process of Sedimentation & Granular Media,
- Assess and conduct proper treatment for microorganisms in water and wastewater,
- Implement and Evaluate Customer Service Strategies,
- Supervise & Test concrete work of Water Collection and Distribution Systems, and
- Facilitate the Use of SCADA Systems
in accordance with the performance criteria described in the OS.
Level 5
This program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude of the learners to the standard required by the occupation. The contents of this program are in line with the occupational standard.
Learners who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work in a Water Supply and Sanitation Level V competencies elaborated in the respective OS.
Graduates of the program will have the required qualification to work in the Water and water-related sector in the field of Water Supply and Sanitation. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the learners with the identified competencies specified in the OS.
Graduates are therefore expected to:
- Manage a Civil Works Project,
- Manage Contracts,
- Prepare Preliminary Design & Project Documents,
- Collect and Interpret statistical &Spatial Data,
- Conduct Research on project work,
- Develop and Monitor Wastewater Treatment Policies and Plans,
- Implement and Manage Water Treatment Management Programs, and
- Implement and Manage a Potable Water Distribution System
in accordance with the performance criteria described in the OS.
